I just bought a rose bubble tip anemone from a friend and I wanted to know 1) how long does it take for clowns to host to a nem? and 2) Do bubble tip nems like to hide in rocks? mine is behind a rock and comes out when my halide is on. thanks in advance!

1) Clowns are all different...some never host in anemones whereas some , like mine, start hosting in it shortly after the nem's been introduced to the tank
2) BTA's do move about alot when they are firstly added to the tank. So, give it a a week or two for it to come round to the front...do not disturb it! They do like hiding in rocks as they like to feel surronded, so a crevice is perfect for them :D

thanks for the advice. i was about to move him! haha. well the other thing that seems really weird is that my clowns go over to the nem and just look at it. then when they get close to the nem my striped blenny comes over and the clowns leave. My blenny does host in my leather but after the move from my house to college my leather isn't very happy and it seems like my blenny wants to host in the rbta. does anyone have any experience with this type of thing?

Blennies don't "host", but they will pick out a spot to retreat to...and your leather may be what he prefers as cover that he would use to hide under/around in the wild.

I have had probably a dozen BTA's over the years, and they have all had SOME differences in behavior...probably due to being in the different setups I've had. BTA's do anchor to a rock. They will move about for some/no reason. They do move out/up into light when it's available. I have one that will stretch one way toward halides when it is cloudy out, but in the evening when the sun shines in as it is setting - it stretches out away from the halides and toward the sun.

Your clowns may never host in the BTA...but I have found almost ALL will but it may take weeks, even months, for them to recognize the BTA as a host. What kind of clowns do you have?
