New nem, trying to get clowns to host.

I just got a huge carpet nem from LFS(green). Tanks raised oce's were hosting it at store. I hope mine will someday.

So I get this bright idea! Has anyone ever taken a small plastic clown fish and glued it to stiff airline tubing, then place it in tank carefully touching the nem and trying to get to mated clowns to chase it off? Hoping that they might claim it as their territory.

sounds like an idea worth trying. Ide say go for it. Is your carpet a haddoni or a gigantea?

no experience w/ trying to lure a clown to an anemone, but i did make the mistake of putting a nori clip shaped and colored like a clownfish in a tank housing a breeding pair. the male thought he had a new (and larger) female to try the wiggle dance with, and the female spent her days trying to pick a fight with plastic that was trying to steal her man.

i'm not sure how many hours of marriage counseling it took to reconcile, but after the interloper was removed they eventually got back to normal.

i don't know if it'd make them more or less likely to host if you try a decoy, but i'm going to guess it'll be entertaining one way or another.

After researching the "net" I think its a S. haddoni.
