I just got home from the wholesalers and this is what i got. A red Haddoni carpet. I am so excited. I have been looking for one of these for about 6 months now and finally got one. I rearragned the tank last night for him, so hopefully he will find his new spot suitable. But if not i guess i get to stack rock somemore. But anyway just wanted to share. Im super excited. Im hoping my clowns take to him. Sorry for the bad pics. Camera Phone. Ill try with the good digital later.

Good find Andrew, now do you mind ME asking YOU what you paid?? LOL Did you end up getting all three or just the one?

Hope things work out for you and your new guy. Problem with this species, and color is finding one that will live longer than a month. Keep up with the pics though, i'd like to see how it fares!

By the way, can you tell how large it is? Looks to me like its at least 12".

i paid 125. He is about 15-18 across. I didnt end up getting all three becuase they woudlnt sell me all three. BUT ya im super excited and nervous at the same time. Do you ahve any tips on these?

No tips from me, sorry.... I was lucky enough to get one that had already proven healthy for almost a year in someone elses tank. I'm not saying yours isn't going to live, i'm just saying its a crap shoot. Never the less, if it does end up heathy and if they size you state is correct than in the end you'll know you got a great deal for a beautiful and rare color'd carpet.

Again, stay up with the pics.

Looks like its doing well. Personally id be concerned about it wanting to climb that rock. Is it getting enough light? What are you running for lighting?

i have two 400 watt halides. 14k. I have the 10ks on order. how big is the mouth on yours all the time. Mine seems to be open but no gaping. I tired feeding him last night. I think he might have taken one piece of krill. But for the most part he just dropped the pieces that i put on him. How long did it take to get yours to eat?

Mine ate right away, but it was used to being fed and pretty healthy when i got it. Thats plenty of light so i guess i wouldn't worry about that. And the mouth on mine is closed all the time. Not sure, but i think as longs as its not a gapping mouth you should be ok.

ya i think he is ok. he has expelled waist about three times so far. im not going to stress the eating for a week or so. before when i had haddonis i fed them shrimp. i dont think i have evergotten a nem to eat krill. but on a side note, he sure is beautiful. and how long did it take your clown to host?

I would get a moonlight to turn on when the lights go out to minimize the risk of fish being eaten.

Tangs are prime candidates for a snack, even during daytime.

Nem is looking good on the second set of pictures. Good luck.

here are more updated pics from when i got home from work. THe mouth is bigger than it was this morning. I got some decent shots of it. I know there isnt more that i can do that im not already doing. My parameters are dead on.

.

has been in the tank now for about 36 hours. I know it was taken from the wild. So it could still be aclimating? And info on Flow? It has consistent flow but it is indirect.

I think everyone is scared to comment after the last set of pics.......

Oh, but to answer you question my clown went to it like a fly to &$*%

I'm sure that it will be acclimating for a couple of weeks. After transitioning from the wild, to a collection bag, to a fish shop, etc., it's natural that it will take a little while to settle in. It's looking good for 36 hours in your tank.

ya the clowns have been avoiding it. Some of the tangs were trying to take a few bits off food off it. The orange shoulder doesnt seem to mind going near it. But ya the mouth is bigger. Im going to do a Water change tommorow reguardless. Im nervouse too becuase of the size of the mouth. But it is open more than it has been since i got it and the color and stickyness is really good. It even stung me when i was placing it in the tank. WHen it touched my hands where they werent calaced, i noticed it itched and i had little red bumps all over. But im hoping for the best. Ill get pics in the morning. And im goign to get shrimp tommorow as well. Thanks to everyone who is tagging along and adding their own thoughts.

Has the anemone attached its foot to the rock or dug into the sand? During the acclimation process, sometimes they will open the mouth--not abnormal.

What Gary said :)

I think your anemone has classic form of attachment for a haddoni (foot in the sand, part of the column against the rock). You might increase the flow slightly to blow directly on the nem.

I would not try feeding it for a few days or perform a water change. Let it settle first.
