New Neptune Par Meter

On a daily basis?
The whole concept seems silly to me unless it could magically repel all dirt/algae.

I just don't see the point in having this in there, in one spot, 24/7.
I'm all for new gadgets that add something positive to my reefing experience or make things easier, but the whole idea of this does nothing for me.

Corraline doesn't grow over in a day. Other forms of algae yes, very good point, and I agree I wouldn't keep it in there 24/7 either. Maybe measure monthly or quarterly.

We shall see.

To me, the rock holder implies that the meter is intended for 24/7 installation. Otherwise any kind of weighting mechanism would suffice.

What Neptune intends and how I use it would be different then. I wouldn't want a wire running through my water all day every day even if the sensor never needed cleaning (which is impossible anyway.) Regardless how they intend, I think it is incredibly useful if you like monitoring parameters (me!), like new gadgets (me!) and are ready to dump some more money into the tank (unfortunately, me!)

Not a great idea in my opinion, for one your only reading par in one area/depth,two sensors like the apogee have a finate life when excited by light, three it'll just get filthy as mentioned.

I was excited when I first saw this....but keeping the lens clean would be an issue, if you're going to keep taking it out and putting it in then you may as well buy a quantum meter.
Where it would come into its own would be if you have Apex ready lighting like AI Hydra52s, you could set the PAR you want and the Apex would adjust the lighting accordingly. For most applications though I would say it's definitely a bit of a toy to play with rather than an important Apex module.

Just put one in my tank. Yes, it another piece of kit but i would like to know my readings. Going to move it around and just let the system record the levels.
