I picked up a pair of Onyx clowns last Saturday. I wish I would have looked at the sticky here before I purchased them. Oh well.
I have a few questions. I have them in 1 29g tank with a heater, AquaClear powerhead, and an AC hang-on back filter filled with filter floss. I also have a good sized piece of live rock in the tank and some PVC fittings. I understand that I should not have used the live rock and that I should have had a sponge in the main tank, but I didn't.
I noticed yesterday that the female clown has a small white bump on her chin. Up until about two days ago they spent time swimming around the tank and through the PVC pieces. Lately they are staying on the opposite side of the tank near the surface of the water. Hopefully this is just due to too much flow? I have noticed the female swimming tail up head down too. Do I need to be worried about this behavior? My only thought could be that I adjusted my salinity.
Since I have obviously not done things as I should have, I am asking for advice on what I can/should do now. Do I need to treat for internal parasites or anything? Should I leave the live rock in with them and will I be able to return it to the main tank or shouldn't I do that now that it has been in the QT? Thank you for the advice.
