New Overflows

I recently had 630mason aka Shane craft me a set of overflows for my 75 and he did an awesome job. Essentially these are just pvc reducer pipes that are available at lowes for about $5.25 each. the top is 5" and reduces down to a 1.5". I had Shane take about 2" off the top and then make the grooves into the remaining to fit to the level of my tank.

I have my tanks in my office (Den) so the noise of the old open pipe drains were never a bother as it was always drowned out by other noises. I gotta say though these overflows are silent.

Nice job Shane!
and THANKS!!

Your more than welcome Dave, I'm glad they worked the way you wanted. You had a really good idea and put it to work so congrats.

You should get some Gutter Guard or something around those to keep fish and snails out or the word "overflowed" may be the title of your next post.

That looks like you could use those to DIY a skimmer. I wonder if you can get them in larger sizes 8" reduced to 3" would be sweet for a skimmer.

lol yeah for sure on the "overflowed" Dave. I actually do have the gutter guard cut already for it but just didn't have it on for the pics.

I had a snail get in the piping a while back and had to learn that lesson the hard way...
