I bought a pair of them about 2 months ago and I am hoping that they will mate. Fortunately I only spent $25 on mine. Does anyone know about how long it will take them to mate?

I obviously cannot give an age, but the were about 1.5" when I bought them..one has gotten bigger, but it is not obvious when they are far apart

Actually they probably are not ORA clowns. The B/W they ship are all black, with very little, if any at all orange on their face.

Good looking clowns nonetheless. I love the Black ones :)

What excattly makes you say this?

Have you been to your local petco ever? if not why not swing on by, and look at the black clowns they have...I guarentee you almost, if not all, have orange on they're nose. Petco get's it's black ocellaris from ORA.
All juvenile blacks have that orange on they're nose. As they mature and get older they lose the orange generally and turn all black.

Plus, if the lfs said they are from ORA they probably are...Not saying all lfs are truthful, but i would assume they have no reason to lie.

fwiw,
austin

I know my clowns arent from ORA and they arent from petco they are from a distributor / online vendor who got them directly from wholesale/collector and Wild caught clowns. i have seen my share of ora clowns and TMC clowns and mine look nothing like them in person built differently and hopefully mine do good im still waiting.

Here is my pair I got about 2 months ago. My male looks almost exactly like yours... His mid stripe is 1/2 on the other side, and the females head bar barely doesnt meet underneath. I got them for cheaper at my LFS because they are misbars...I like the uniqueness to them better anyway.

Thanks.

My understanding is that they are Ora Clowns from the guy who sold them to me. He may be lying, I'm not sure. The black clowns develop more and more black as they get older and mature. There is no way Ora could keep every clown they produce until they reach that maturity, it would be impossible. So I do think Ora ships to their distributors as soon as they can safely. However, that doesn't mean mine are, they certainly could be knock offs I don'tknow.

I honestly don't care if they are Walmart Black clowns.. I got them bc I love the pattern and they had good personality. I like the orange false percs too, it was a tough call. I just wanted something different then I have had before for this tank. It's just a one to mess around with.

Yes those clowns are brought in from ORA. I know for a fact.

I do not know, but I will ask for you when I go there next time. I'm pretty dumb sometimes... what does ORA mean? Is that a variation of false clowns?

Thanks for your help. I'll post as soon as I can find out their origin.
