Total Volume 300G

Just spent the afternoon sanding and polishing, buffing.

Still a few scratches in this acrylic but done for the day. tomorrow a few spot sanding/polishing.

Pics to come, apparently max upload here is 102kb, gonna have to go upload them elsewhere

It is a great tank and yes it went to a good home, Wes, you have done an amazing job cleaning it up. I look forward to following along and seeing the progress, your off to a great start.

I hope i do it justice, dedication, dedication i dont think i'll let anyone down with it. :P

Tomorrow is installation of lights, and filling the tank with water/vinegar to get the pipes clean and get off some remaining algae off the power heads, pipes.

Anyone know ratio for water/vinegar for approx 300 gallons?... imagine going to the grocery store for 20 gallons of vinegar :P lol... that'll be interesting...

I'm also in the sump area going to build a sectional frag grow area, just got me some LED's being shipped, went with 200 3W LED's assorted colors/types.... need to find a place to buy heatsinks, my vendor doesnt sell the size i want, they only do rectangle, i need long and not so wide. I plan on using T5 actinic and probably 500watish LED's for penetration. my vendor only sells 8'x12' and i think the 12' width is just to wide, i'd like longer skinner bars of light so i can split blues/whites and supplemental lights into a 3 part array... supplemental will be UV/Cyan/Red/Royal Purple

Lights up, Filled with water, hit the overflow and got some drippy bulk heads.... redrained the tank, fixed 2/3 drippy bulk heads, working on the last one now... resealing edges with silicone just for good measure. Will post pics tomorrow

I always replace bulkheads with new Sched 80, they can be pricy if you need several, but this is one area you never want to go budget IME/IMO!

Also,
Be sure to not over tightening.
O ring is on the wet side.
Dry no lube on gasket.
Clean surfaces, no sand, no muck on glass, O ring and bulkhead sealing surfaces.

The nervousness will go away in time....

thanks bugs, i have to drain it one last time after the vinegar bath, know where i might pick up some new sched 80 bulkheads?

FYI....Sch 80 bulkheads require lager holes than sch 40. I do agree with using sch 80 over 40, better quality

I ran into the same problem with my build and had to make the holes larger to go the schedule 80. If you are going that route let me know and I can give you some advise if needed.

I used a Dremel on mine, it was suggested I not do it, but it turned out good. Took me about 30 minutes and took off just enough material to fit the bulkhead

Good thing you don't have a glass tank or you would be SOL

Dry no lube on gasket.

Disagree....

Gasket goes on the opposite side as the plastic nut. For most applications it will be on the wet side, but for some it could be the dry side, ie - glass-holes overflow.

Also, I always use just a slight amount of lube on the gasket. Too much is a bad thing, but just enough will keep the gasket from binding.

He who put gasket on dry side will have two wet sides!
