The wife just got home from Bogey Hills Plaza (Zumbehl and 70 / St.Charles) and says the new PetCo has saltwater displays. Anybody else seen this? How did everything look? I may have to stop by there in the next day or two. I have no high expectations.

all petco's here in alton and fairview heights carry saltwater fish, every once in a while some brittle starfish or anenome's, mostly just yellow tangs, damsels, clownfish cause manager believes thats all they can sell and won't get much of anything else.

PetCo doesn't have anything like this !

I've been popping in there now for over a year, that's my area that I deliver in. I must agree, every Petco I've been into that has SW in it, is the worst things I've ever seen ( other than a good viewing of the creature that wonders around lose up there at Gateway I think Chad calls it Steve or something) :eek2:

Petco in fairview is aweful to go in to, you have to be bleeding and almost dead on the floor to get any help. Usually everything is dead or dying when it comes to the saltwater fish. If you do get something they ask you 50 questions as if you are going to be putting saltwater fish in freshwater. I guess because i was buying feeder fish for my black ghost knife they thought i was gonna put everything in one tank. but asking me "what size tank are the rosey reds going into?"...uh...they are food! it doesn't matter, "what size tank is the feather duster going into?" uh a 12 gallon nano cube "oh thats way too small, its not gonna make it." Oh and the famous, i know more then you because i work at Petco. Whatever, I worked at petsmart for 5 years and that does not in anyway make me an expert with birds, reptiles, dogs, cats or fish maybe just a little more knowledgeable. I purchased a feather duster about a year ago and they acted as if i was putting a lion fish in my 12 gallon nano cube. Petco in Alton is just about the same with customer service but not as bad as fairview heights with the dramatics. Petsmarts customer service is not great either. Management would let stupid teenagers who don't care about the hobbyist tell people just about anything to get them out of the building. Can you sense any hostility in this?

they acclimate there specimens one way and don't diviate=float the bag, cut it open, pour over net and release. CAN U SAY STRESSED OUT

Was at the new store last weekend and the set-up is a lot nicer than most Petcos and had more tanks commited to SW than most. Due to more tanks, they also had a wider variety of fish, they just didn't look any healthier. Even on opening weekend. They were dripping the new fish in buckets though.
