Clam has been with me for 3 years. I got him at about 6-7" long by shell measurement. I'm sure the shell is about 3 times that now. The good news is its growth appears to have slowed down somewhat.
Most of my sps colonies were grown from frags or very small colonies and I strived for a tank with a few prized large colonies . Therefore I tend not to frag my colonies unless they get too large for their own good. In my tank, I notice the limiting size to be about 12" across. After that, shading or restricted water flow become a problem and I end up chopping the piece up before it starts to die.
