updated pic. as you can see, i have brown and green algae . my son put in the chromis fish, without my knowledge. (he thought he was doing me a favor) i am trying to catch them and return them to the lfs. here are my water parameters:
amm-0
nitrate-2.5
nitrite-0.1
PH-8.2
alk-2.0
water temp.-80 degrees.
ammonia has spiked and fallen. nitrate is coming down also. the mushrooms were on a rock that came from another tank. they are doing well. killed another aspitasia today. i have at least two bristleworms, and a couple of small starfish roaming around in there too. all i have in the "sump" is a foam filter, and some liverock rubble. i am just letting the tank "do its thing". any comments are welcome, good or otherwise.

i dont think there is anything wrong with having chromis. i didnt think my tank was ready for fish just yet.

get a conch for that sandbed they will cleaner right up also, or maybe a small sandsifter gobie like two spot gobie cause bigger ones make a mess with the sand. i like the yellow watchman and two spot my self.

Your doing ok. Let the tank run it's cycle, a few fish like damsels are a good thing. There hardy & will help with the cycle.

amm-0
nitrate-2.5<--- Needs to be @ O but you know that
nitrite-0.1 <----Same here
PH-8.2
alk-2.0<----But this needs to be up. You need to use something like REEF builder it raises Carbonate Alkalinity. I use the product made by Seachem. "They" claim you should be between 8-10. I keep my system @ 7 or 8. Keep in mind though, you need to adjust both Alalinity and Calcium one will draw from the other. Just don't buffer with both of them @ the same time. Raise your Alk first then the next day test your Calk, if if's fluxed then buffer it, after that I'd test both again the next day.

Overall, your doing just fine though. :)
