That is one nice carpet....Don't they need more light then that? I was always told they needed more intense light....I guess you are proving that wrong.. You have a nice Tank.

Hes going to make his way over to a 24, with clowns as well, then once he out grows that he will be going into my lagoon.

2 x 24 Watt CFL Lighting,50/50 10k/Actinic.

That amount of light is not enough to sustain the anemone, you'll need to upgrade that lighting system.

That is very true, and time will prove in my favor. Time is on my side, yes it is.

IME, the light that you have is borderline. Anemones don't die all of a sudden from a lack of light. They don't even look unhealthy without enough light. A healthy anemone without enough light will very gradually(almost too gradual to notice) became smaller and have shorter tentacles than they used to have. This process may take 6 to 8 months. All of a sudden they stop eating and at that point it is usually too late to save them.
Keep these pictures around and refer back to them often. If you notice that it seems to be smaller than it used to be, you'll need to upgrade your lights.

It has actually goten bigger over the last 2 weeks i have had it, which is a good sign. And as for the lighting it is enough to sustain this anemone, i am not a so called newb when it comes to housing anemones, and know what they need and dont need. Even on this site in the FAQ it states that this anemone is difficult to keep, then the rest of the FAQ goes onto more difficult and most difficult.

if your keeping a carpet anem. in a 12dx you are a newbie.
just bec youve been in the hobby for a long time doesnt mean you know what your doing. you obviously show your level of expertise with this thread.

Alright lets get one thing straight, try not to flame me, by saying that i am a newb, if you READ you will know that he will not be staying in there. So before making comments like this ^ please think before speaking.

Bluecarpet, first off, you have inaquedate lighting. If you were "experienced" with anemones, you would clearly know your lighting is not fullfilling. Although, you did say you have a lagoon. What kind of lighting are you running over that? I would love to see pictures of your lagoon and know what else you have in there with it? At least lets see a picture of a full shot lagoon just to get an idea of what wer're looking at.

In your different statements, you sound very cocky and confident, almost to confident. I am not trying to sound condescending nor inflammatory I am trying to benefit you and the anemone. Even a 24 gallon is not reasonable as you said thats its next tank when it gets too big. This anemone is too aggressive and gets to big for that size tank. And you said "time is on my side, yes it is," well actually no its not. Definately not. Your tank is to small, not good enough lighting. And from what I can tell by the pictures, you have a film on your water surface. Thats not good. What kind of water are you using? Tap, well, or RO water? What I can see that red mushroom in the back does not look in good shape. If a mushroom is not in good shape, well good luck with your anemone. Don't be naive Bluecarpet, do something to help your anemone because your proving no one wrong, your mind just thinks that.

First, where in the world did you come from, thats a nice first post to get welcomed here, and second that red mushroom is on a shell and that is why it is like that.(would you like me to take a pic of it now and show you it is fine?) So i am not even going to waste my time in trying to talk to you, because the bottom line is, is that it is not worth it.

I can clearly see its on a shell but still looks bad. I was trying to give you needed advice beacause your anemone is going to die. So lets see some pictures of your lagoon.

Talk about cocky.....So you decided to flame on your first post real nice....Most folks would be a little more humble. When someone says "I am not trying to sound condescending nor inflammatory" they usually are and do. In your later post on the site you might want to change your attitude or you might find it a difficult place to hang out.

Now on to the topic....If you say it's going into bigger system I can only take you for your word. As it is right now it looks good in the system it's in, will it 2-3 months down the road? Not for me to decide. Just make sure your ready to get brighter lights if you need them....
