New PLTA won't anchor

We've had our PLTA for about 2 weeks now.
It seems healthy - seems to be growing and opening up nicely. The foot looks nice and pink, the color hasn't faded and the mouth is closed - not gaping.
It eats like a pig - slivers of scallop soaked in Selcon every other day.
But for some reason it just doesn't want to anchor - any suggestions??

This pic is from when we brought it home - when it opens up it, it's about 20% larger that this pic.

Our tank is a 150 with MH/VHO lights, about 1100 gph flow and good parameters.

You do know that that LTA should have its foot buried in the sand, right?

I actually dug a hole and plopped my LTA in it and backfilled in around its foot. I turned off the flow for a few hrs to let it settle in and it didn't move at all after that.

I pulled it out of that spot after about a year and it wasn't stuck to the bottom or anything. It just came right out of the sand. I don't think these are capable of sticking to anything.

I think he knows they should have their foot buried in the sand hence the question. ;)

LTAs are very capable of attaching to the bottom of the glass or under a rock. I had one myself that attached to the glass. I always found LTAs a little trickier though in getting them to attach. Haddonis however I have found attach the fastest.

No worries - my wife and I were having a disagreement about how it would anchor.
In the LFS it had attached itself to the clear plastic container it was being kept in.
She thought if we dug out the sand it would attach to the glass........
Tried that - didn't work.....

So I dug a small hole and covered up the base and turned the flow way down.
Hopefully this will work......

Thanks for the tips!!

And verifying that I was Right

Ok - So Nemmie (as my wife calls HER) just doesn't want to anchor....
I've tried just about everything, dug holes in the sand, up against the rock, behind the rock.......
Turned off the pumps, re-aimed the flow, lowered the flow.......
My wife even put a small glass plate in case she wanted to stick on that... No luck!

Nemmie is eating fine, her color hasn't faded at all, she opens up when the MH's come on, her foot still looks good....

And best of all our clowns are hosting !!!
It's hilarious to see the 3 clowns trying to get snuggled in her

So, I'm out of ideas.

Any suggestions??

Mine ended up anchoring in a small cave right above the sand. I stacked the rock just for it, luckily it worked. I placed my nem in the cave and buried its foot with sand. Then I took a small rock and placed it in front of the nem. This way it was kinda like a cave all around the base. The clowns spawn on this front rock now too. Mine attached very quickly so I was lucky. Try building a cage with rock and go low flow in the area and see if it grabs hold.

Did you try turning off all the flow in the tank and try burrying its foot? I would turn off all the flow in the tank for about two hours, dig a hole against the glass, plant the anemones foot in the hole and cover the foot with the sand....and when I say cover the foot I mean COVER the foot as much as I could. Don't worry, your not hurting the anemone. I would leave the flow off for a while. I would turn on one powerhead at a time gradually until your tank is back up and completely running with flow...

See if this works. It might be a little difficult to do this now since you have clownfish...3 of them!

Let me know if this works...if it doesn't I am out of ideas for you. :(

Good luck!
