New products!

The prices should be on the flyer? The controllable nano Stream will be about $200. The 6300 was designed for zoos and is priced accordingly- just under $800. The anticipated demand was less than 100 per year and it was developed for zoos and public aquariums not hobbyists. The 6300 is unbelieveably strong and I wouldn't recommend it for anything under say 600 gals.

oh no, it is for my 240g cube. 48x48x24

Very cool, that should work out great. I have a 6200 and 6100, along with a closed loop on my 240g cube.

Nope, no prices in the flyer...that skimmer looks sweet. Only problem is that the smallest model, according to the flyer, is 19.5" wide! Certainly won't fit in most sumps.

will the controllable nano stream work with the 7095 multicontroller?

Tunze demontstrate NanoStreams pumps on InterZoo 2006. I was been on InterZoo and pumps looks very effective, when work in the small aquariums.

On the Interzoo it is also possible to compare different Tunze Streams. Tunze Stream 6300 is qiute impresive, if you compare flow with 6100 and 6200.

Found the prices for the new stuff on Tunze's German website:

NanoStream:

6025.000 61.84 USD
6045.000 96.63 USD
6055.000 202.93 USD

Master DOC skimmers:

9420.000 708.63 USD
9440.000 963.74 USD
9460.000 1,623.41 USD
9480.000 1,878.52 USD

Hydrofoamer pump for use with skimmers above:

9400.040 255.11 USD

Very nice... I think there is a hole in their line - they need a ~1500 GPH nanostream for $125 or so. The 6055 is perfect... but too expensive for me... a couple of those and a controller and you're talking $600+. A couple modded MJ's that put out equal flow at about the same size would be less than $80.

Those are some pretty intense prices for a skimmer. If only the smallest model would have been a bit more "affordable" I would have settled on waiting till they came out to get the 9420.

The skimmers are targeted at the Deltec/ H&S market and priced very competiitive with those skimmers.

The controllable nano stream is compatible with the existing controllers.

Roger,

Why not target something at the ASM/EuroReef market as well, in the smaller skimmer sizes? Something that could fit easily into a smaller sump...I use an AGA 40 G breeder tank for my sump, and it's 18" wide...the smallest of these new skimmers wouldn't fit in my skimmer compartment, as they are 19" in "diameter," according to the website. Something in the $250-400 range would be nice in these new hydrofoamer models.

That is what the regular DOC skimmers are for. The needle wheel pumps are a good way to take a lot of air in for big skimmers but their is no logical reason for them to be superior to a well made venturi and the smaller bodied skimmers do not need this much air.

What about the new dvd videos which are supposed to show
gorgeous, HQI light drenched, eye popping reef tanks using Tunze aquarientechnik?

The DVD is something I have been working on with a friend, it will be ready in English by September.

Not sure i understand what you are asking Creetin? The pump is completely different.

I think the diameter listed is where the skimmer is at it's widest. In other words those 19" include the skimmer body and pump or outlet. I'm sure the skimmer will fit in a 40 breeder. The pump and outlet will have to be positioned parallel with the length of the 40 gallon.

I ordered a TF02 kit from Premium Aquatics a couple of weeks ago. They said it would all be drop shipped from Germany. It is for a 24x18x21 tank, maybe I should wait for the Nanostream, or would this be overkill? 600+ gph is probably plenty for my little tank. The pump on the Nano Cleaner is also putting out 211gph. Do you think the Turbelle will be too obtrusive?

Sure, it will fit if you want a 19" long skimmer compartment...half of the length of your sump if you use a 40 gallon breeder which is 36" long. I don't want the skimmer compartment to be more than 13" long...and the depth on the 40 is 18" so, you can't place it sideways. I have mine set up with a return and a refugium area, so, that big a skimmer is out of the question with that setup. That's just my personal preference...since I am dealing with only just under 4' of space in my stand. No luxury like a fishroom like a lot of folks have posted here.

Either that, or, I'd have to get REALLY creative with sump design.

:)

Roger,

How big of a compartment should one build into one's sump if planning to purchase a 9420 Master DOC? It the length of ths skimmer is 19" from hydrofoamer to outlet pipe, how WIDE is it from front to back?

Thanks,

Kirk
