Picked up my new project tonight, its a 60g cube. I am not 100% positive what will become of it but I am leaning towards an anemone tank with LTA's and 2 pairs of clowns. Most likely I won't start this project till the first of the year but here she is taking a vinegar bath.

The top opens and there is no back. I am going to dismantle the front and put hinges on it so it swing open as well.

awesome... just out of curiosity, how much did you pay for this bad boy? ( if you dont mind me asking )

Yea, its the deal I have been waiting for :). Everyday I would browse the local forums looking, took me 9 months but I found it :)

lol good for you man.. I did the same basically.. looked through forums and all online for my tank... Finally we decided to go to this rediculous fish store (where everything is twice as much as any other city). They were having an anniversarry sale, we ended up getting a 210 gallon AGA with stand and canopy for something like a grand.

Lol yeah.. Luckily we did.

Well good luck.. I'll keep up with this thread... just keep taking pictures of the progess! and goodluck!

Those dimensions are AWESOME. I would stick to two clowns, personally...they tend to be aggressive towards other clownfish once they've formed a pair (especially when they start looking to spawn). As always, YMMV.

What are you thinking as far as equipment goes?

As a side note...is anyone else somewhat concerned that setting up a new system is almost as much fun as watching the one you've got?

LOL YES!

I was going to only keep 1 pair but I have been following a thread where the guy bought 6 super small and put them in an anemone tank and 1 year later they are all still doing good... Thats months away from me so i will keep researching it.

As far as equipment I am starting from scratch. I was going to build my own sump and use a mag 7 for the return. I was entertaining the thought of a CL but I don't know if I want to deal with the leaks.

As far as lights I think I am going to go with MH. As an anemone tank could I go with a 150w or should I go higher? I was looking at the Sundial lights.

Skimmer, who knows right now

Powerheads I will go with Koralia, I like mine and have no complaints.

I would like to get it plumbed and water in it before the end of the year but who knows if that is possible. I plan on using water and sand from my existing tank but getting new rock, so I would like to get the cycle going.

I was itching for a new build! I built my first one as a noob and didn't do it correctly and rushed. Now that I have some experience I am looking forward to making it right!

I LOVE projects! :)

Sounds like a good plan. The "add 'em small" technique works best with captive bred clowns from the same clutch, from what I hear.

How deep is it? That will probably determine the wattage of your halide. I really like my 175, but I've never used anything else.

And yea that what I have been reading about the clowns as well. I was thinking about when the time came to head to my LFS and tell them to get 4 and keep them in the same tank for a few weeks, I'll leave a deposit or something on them.
