It's been discontinued.

From what I know Peltier chillers are very inefficient compared to traditional compressors.

What a shame why?

They just don't work well.

I'm very familiar with Peltier cooling since my other hobby is overclocking computers. They're just inefficient as a cooling solution. The greater the Delta between the cold and hot side, the more efficient they are but relying on fans to cool the hot side will never work.

Compression based chillers far outperform any Peltier chiller.

Peltier have other advantages, it can cool and heat, and not only on and off but also something between, you have no moving parts (no maintenance or repairs), maybe besides the fans.

The idea was not to cool down a tank 10K, we wanted to cut and smoothen peaks and keep the temp. stable (no hysteresis necessary), which worked very well.

We had happy customers who gave us very positive feedback, but there where also people with the wrong expectations. Maybe a lack of communication and information.

Actually we consider to give it a new try. With LED lighting the water heats up less than in the past with MH, so it's maybe a new chance for this technology.

I Am total willing to try it and dump my other chiller. Please keep me in mind as I have about 120 gallons of water and my tank in the summer months can get as high as 85/86 degrees without a chiller. So what every one i need to try out by all means let me know i am fair game for GHL and its products.

They work well in areas of good ventilation. Providing the ambient room temperature is below the required water temperature they will work, but they become inefficient if not impossible if you wish to drive below the ambient room temperature.

With modern AC driven homes at around 71-74f you should have enough to play with but the device can not be enclosed it needs good air flow.

I have a fish room but it gets hot as the wife won't let me put Ac for the fish lol so it gets warm.

Yes this was the failure in expectation last time, most people have fish rooms or need to keep equipment in a stand. Its hard to convince the wife this amazing piece of German engineering needs pride and place in the family room ;)

I think if GHL were to go back to this great product maybe a fan assisted "cool holding box" would be an idea
