New pump for swc250a?

I currently have a swc250a with a askoll pump that just recently died.. The price for a new one is $300.. I can get a bubble blaster 5000 pump for about $250.. Does anyone know if the bubble blaster would be a direct fit or will I need to do any modifications??

Why did it fail? Is it the motor block only?

You can get a new motor block for $120. I know it looks nothing like what you have but trust me... All that plastic comes off and it leaves you with the exact same motor block.

The pump is inside the birdcage.

Yah.. That's what I use for a return pump.. But do I need special tools to take all the plastic off the old skimmer pump??

Just an allen wrench to remove three screws that hold the volute to the motor block.
