New Pump On Skimmer Not Working

I just bought a new sendra ksp-5000 for my euroreef rs-135 after my old one crapped out on me. I hooked it up and now the skimmer is not working right. The water is very turbulent in the chamber and there is no micro bubbles rising up to the top. It has a lot of air movement in the chamber, but not the small bubbles slowly rising to the top to skimmer. I have the skimmer in bout 7 in of water and have tried dialing down the air intake and opening the air intake. Nothing cages in the chamber that I can see. Is there something special that has to be done to that specific pump to make it work on my skimmer? The description on euroreef is that it comes with a modified sendra pump. What is modified on it? If you just set it back up, give it a few days to start breaking in. The bubbles will change over the break in period.

how do I modify the pump to make it a skimmer pump. It has a needle wheel impeller and a venturi on it. It is the same model that comes with the skimmer. What do I need to do to make it skim??

^^^^^^ exactly a ASM skimmer pump does nicely.

It is starting to work a little better now. I guess the pump had to be broken in. Been running about a week now and is starting to create the tiny bubbles now. Not much to skim right now, but at least I know it is starting to work again.

Good to hear. That's kind of what I figured. It's not so much the pump that needs to break in but more so the skimmer body although the pump as well. Break in can take up to two weeks. Also, if this is a newly setup tank, you need enough dissolved organics to make the finer bubbles that stick together and turn to foam. Without the organics that fish and feeding create, you will get bubbles that will burst on the surface instead of a nice foam.
