i am going to buy either a powder brown tang or a achillies tang today and i am looking for some advise. i would like to know which won i am going to have better luck with. both fish are around 2-3 inches and very colorful both are eating and nice and fat. if anyone can give me some advise i would appreciate it.

They are very closely related, so its pretty much a coin toss as to which will be more healthy. It will be up to the immunity of the individual fish.

I like Achillies tangs though.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend either for a 75...both need lots of swimming room.
I am not sure which Brown Tang you are referring to, the Ancanthurus Japonicus or Nigerius [sp?] Japonicus is the far better species. Achillis and Nigerius [sp?] do not adapt well and often die within a month. I have a Japonicus in a 90 gallon qt and he paces the tank..it is obviously too small for his liking.
Honestly for a 75 I would suggest a Kole Tang

i think that kole tangs are not as hardy as people think and have had no luck with them everything that i have read says that a 55 minimumis fine to house a powder brown and i do know that i can be flirting with disaster with an achillies but didn't think that the powder brown was that delicate.

a powder brown tang would suit your tank conditions better< but i prefer the achilles beautiful colouration to the dull black and brown of the powder brown.
