New Purple LTA

We just got our 1st Purple LTA from SITC - it is beautiful!
Really bright purple color with a large round foot! It opened up right away!

But - I have no idea how to place it.
I put it in the spot where we hope it will stay - but the current kinda moves it around.
As this is my first anemone I'm not sure what to do. I'm guessing it will latch on to something??
I read the FAQ in the anemone forum - but it really didn't say much about placement.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Fuzz

actually it should stay in the sand. in the FAQ section there is a pdf file that a lady wrote that is very informative.

by the way - where's the pic!?

That one was a real beauty! Make sure he doesn't get close to any powerheads either and he'll settle in wherever he feels like it.

Thanks for the info - here's my 1st attempt at a pic....

Fortunately - I don't have any powerheads in the tank. Everything is done from the corner overflow.
I still need some more flow - so eventually I'll upgrade to a new sump and a Dart.

very nice looking!

get couple hydro K 4's, just ordered mine today. i have the dart running my return. but looking for a little more flow!

I love that color its so intense for purple :) Very very nice!

are you following me, what's your problem, isn't this ocean big enough for you!? - Dori!

JK :D - seems like we keep hitting the same posts!

Thanks!
I sent my wife to SITC to get a bucket of Tropic Marin.
She came home with a 82 pound bag, 2 neon green frilly shrooms, a purple shroom, the LTA and a nice Frogspawn.

And people say I'm an impulse buyer

In the past when I've introduced new anemones, I actually shut down "all" circulating pumps for as long as a couple hours. Giving the anemone ample time to attach to rock work, An air stone can be used temporarily to keep the water surface agitated.

My blue carpet started on the rockwork and then moved it's foot deep into the sand. My sebae worked it's way up the rockwork until it settled in on a spot.

Anemones like their foot on something solid. I've found if you can scoop the sand out of an area near a rock base and place the foot on the bottom glass, they attach very nicely. My green carpet has been in pretty much the same spot for almost 3 years...exactly where I placed him. If you look up under my tank, you can see his foot spread about a foot wide on the glass. If this isn't feasible, a flat rock will often have a similiar effect. GL...color looks amazing under your lights! Marcye

I placed my green LTA near the bottom on the rock, under a sort of overhang in my rockwork and he loved it there immediately.

Hey Maryce - it looks even better in person!
I can't believe how bright the purple is!!
And to think I was worried about not having enough light!!

Jean is so excited with all the corals she bought - the green frilly's are huge and the purple is starting to fill out.

I'll take some pics of Fat Albert and Bennie - you won't believe how much they have grown!!

Thanks!!

Nick

I moved him around a bit today - it looks like he's completely opened up.
Here's a pic while eating his first meal of scallop pieces

1st time I've seen a LTA feed - I put a bit a scallop by his outside tentacle, he pulled it right into his mouth!! :eek1:

I know - doesn't take much to amuse me
