my Geo kalk reactor finally arrived. i have 2 questions, what is a good kalk media to use in the reactor. and what is the best way to get rid of micro bubbles in the sump. my tunze osmulator will not work until i get that problem solved.
thanks

lots of people use ESV kalk, i've used it before and it's great. you can use Mrs. Wage's Pickling Lime from the grocery store too, although it's not quite as pure and you'll have to clean out your reactor more often.

as far as microbubbles, you can put your overflow going into some sort of vessel (pitcher or something like that) that is a little bit taller than the water level, so the water falls into the pitcher, then down into the sump.

I have my overflow going into a trash can I cut and it helped a lot with microbubbles. The other way is to baffle the sump in which case you could get some plexiglass or acrylic cut to fit the width of your sump snuggly and avoid caulking them in.

Is that your tang in that avatar? Its awesome.

I fixed the microbubbles coming from my skimmer by using a 5 gallon bucket as a "bubble trap." I suggest doing as Ian did and finding something bucket-like and cut it to be an inch above your water line in your sump. That should fix the microbubble problem.

Almost everyone around here uses ESV kalk (calcium hydroxide). A study was done at some point, forget where, that made it look like it had the least contaminants. We like it anyhow....

my sump is the aqua glass mega flow sump, it has baffles, and it came with a sponge block, but i had to take it out cuz my mag drive sucked it faster than the sponge block let water to it. i think that i got it fixed, i wased the sensor, the tunze people said that the sensor has a coating on it that needs to be taken off.
... the avatar is a pic of my achillles tang, he is a really cool fish, i just got luckey with him, he never got ich and started eating the first night i got him.
thanks guys for the help.
