New reef tank

Hello, I have had saltwater fish for a few years, but this is my first reef tank. I bought it from a neighbor who had to sell it and move in a hurry due to an emergency. I couldn't pass up the price and I was happy to help! Looking for any advice, I am learning a lot from the forums already and want to learn more!

All set up. Water cycled, rocks, sand, fish, corals all transfered. I lost a couple of corals despite my best efforts, but almost everything made the switch just fine. I dosed the refugium with about 1500 mixed pods, mostly tiggers... I noticed some flake looking residue floating on top of the water in the main tank, not sure what it is or why it isn't flushing down the overflow.

Honestly I'm in over my head for my knowledge base, but I know I can learn and continue to enjoy the hobby more than ever. I don't know how to check or what to have my calcium, magnesium, etc at. Coral specific ideas. I have never had coral or plants or copepods or amphipods... Well I probably had pods but I never needed to care about them like I do now. I don't even know how established the tank was when I got it (how old) though I did do a complete water cycle /change when I moved it to my house. So first question how to I check calcium, magnesium, what else do I need to check? What should I ensure those levels be at or around? What's the best way to supliment them into the tank? Are there any other coral care instructions I might now know about? The fish are all happy and healthy, I have a pretty good handle on them. What are some suggested inverts? I basicly have none besides maybe like 15 snails and a few white leg hermits...

Best advice is to start researching everything! We could all sit here and write book for you on how and what we would do, but I suggest you read and watch as much as you can on every aspect. Happy to answer any more specific questions if you have any.

Nice tank and good luck to you
