new refugium

This is my new fuge. I had drilled a 20 gallon long to use originally but it cracked at bulkhead so i used an old wet/dry sump i had. I added 35 lbs of regular fine sand and 5 lbs of live sand. I have a bunch of mangroves and a cheato ball. the pump supplying it is from my skimmer which i took off line due to having an ATS and seeing if my nitrates and phosphates stay the same or decrease! I have enclosed a few pics of the set up and mangroves. I have a sincle 26 watt CFL lighting it right now set on the same timer as my ATS lights. on at 7 am and off at midnite. the grey stuff is foam holding the mangroves off the sand so the roots will grow down into it

Nice job on the mangrove. I wanted to try growing that, but I simply did not have room in my fuge for that and chaeto.

at least in Florida you can find the pods on the beach for free if you look around august, just floating or washed up on shore
