Skimmer being broken in...
Ok another update. I wanted to put the skimmer in my main tank, till i realized that the pump that comes with this bad boy is huge! I wouldnt have had room for my lights! lol so i used the hang on side option and put it in the fuge. About 24hrs after first starting it up about 1/4 cup of this cloudy water has been extracted. I'm still learning the in's and out's of the two dials which control water flow/level. I know im just breaking it in but i would like to "dry skim" and it looks like right now its "wet skimming". The literature does say this is normal for the first 72hrs or so. However the diagram in the literature is not proportionate to the actual device. The neck between the collection cup and reaction chamber is about 2 inches or more longer on the real skimmer as opposed to the diagram, and the directions for water level in it are skewed becuase of this, im not sure where i need to leave it at. I neglected to get a picture to show what i mean but ill post one tomarrow. Anyone have advice on breaking in the coralife SS65?
Anyways keeping my eye on this storm ill probably have to go to pensacola or somewhere in that region when it makes landfall, part of my other job.. im a hurricane chaser.
Best regards,
Ryan
