New rock questions...

Got the 1st half of my rock shipment yesterday (woo-hoo!). Of course, it's awesome, but I have some questions:

1. After adding the sand & rock, the water clouded up something fierce. Still cloudy (though not quite as bad) 12 hours later -- how long does it normally take to clear up?

2. My ammonia measured 0 this morning -- is that possible??

Water will settle give it some time. If Its really bugging you, you can run a mechanical fliter with some sort of filter media poly pad or some such to help clear it faster.

I'm thinking the ammonia level this morning is not totally unusual, remember TBS rock tends to have alot less die off than other rock - keep testing and watching those levels.

The water should clear on its own within a few hours. A lot probably depends on how carefully you added the sand.

What kind of test kit are you using? While it's certainly possible to go through your entire cycle without any large spikes (mine never got above 0.25), I'd think that a true 0.0 throughout would be unusual, even for TBS rock. You'll probably see a bump in the next 2 or 3 days. If you don't, you may want to try another test kit to insure that you're getting an accurate reading.
