New RODI flush questions

So I've been up and running on my 40 gallon reef tank for about 9 months now. I've been very lucky, because I have a friend who is an avid reefer that helped me get started and has been giving me RODI water. Since I've established this is going to be a long term hobby for me and I'm planning an upgrade in the next year or so, I bought a brs 7 stage unit that I recently set up. I got it going the other day and filled up a 55 gallon drum. After I did all this, I read the instructions. The instructions say to run the RODI for an hour or so, and discard the water generated, to flush out the system. So do you guys think I need to dump what I made and refill? Would I be ok to run some carbon in the RODI drum or something to get anything out that might have been left over from the manufacturing process? TDS coming out of the system was 0 the whole time. I would rather dump it all and make new than risk the health of my corals. Any thoughts on or input (besides that I should've read the directions first) is appreciated.

It'll be fine. I wouldn't worry about it. I only discard a gallon or so at most when I swap cartridges or setup.

You are supposed to flush the RODI unit without the DI cartridge in. If you have the DI cartridge in and you have 0 tds the water is fine. The reason to flush it without the DI unit in is that lots of stuff will flush out of the other filters and clog the DI unit making it not last as long. All this means is you will have to replace your DI cartridge sooner.
