new rose *PICS*

about the food debate goin on, what i read a while back that made sence to me was the fact that although they can be kinda sticky, are bta really sticky enough to grab a flailing fish. according to the article probably not, which would mean that they would have to catch many smaller things ( like mysis and plankton) but this is very interesting. i know silversides work though because thats what i used to use, but i switched and it seems to work the same. anyone else have info

i make up my own food mix for my fish and corals, freeze it in old mysis trays, so i had a bleached bta, and was feeding it half a cube of my frozen mix, thought all was great colour coming back accross the nem, then one day i found this floating perfect shaped ball in my sump??? what the hell??? turned out to be the food i had fed the nem the day before. So i agree with the comments that the nems will spit this stuff out during the night.

But, and this is more ticky i read nateps comments about feeding a block of plankton, so this is a larger piece of food made up of lots of smaller bits that Calfo has said is best to feed. Now my food i make up is mush just like a block of plankton would be, its not solid at all and is not that dense, so imo if a nem spat my food blck back out it will spit a block of plankton too....

so after reading all the stuff on the success people have had with silversides and the theory not to feed to larger peices, i now feed my own mix still, but i pick out the chunks of squid or prawn as 5mm roughly and place a few near the mouth. And IMO works best for me.

sorry forgot to add, i hate feeding mysis to my nem with a baster cos like mentioned before it is so hard to judge if it has eaten or not, especially with a crab in the nem too....

I have fed my clones krill for years and I have never seen an undigested portion regurgitated. I have had my original (whichever one that is :D ) for over 11 years. I started feeding silversides when I got a different clone (a male, mine were all females), and it refused krill. It ate the silversides (again, no undigested portions), and my other clones ate any scraps that missed the mark.

FWIW,
Kevin

It hasn't grown, its just finally getting back to its orginal size again. It usually takes a week for it finally to inflate back up to its normal size before and can sometimes trick you into thinking it actually grew.

i was hoping that wasnt the case but i pretty much knew itwas.

thanks for cluin mein 55,

No problem. :)

I remember when I first got my bluecarpet, it finally got to its fully size again and I thought it grew at first until I found out that it was simply regaining its original size again.
