New sailfin tang has ick in qt. Hypo or cupramine?

Which would you recommend for a sailfin? I'm comfortable with either.

Tank transfer gets rid of ich quickly. There's some stickies at the top to read. But between the TWO, I would do cupramine. IF those are the only two choices.

If you're not in a hurry I prefer hyposalinity treatment personally. The lowered salinity hydrates the fish and helps keep its appetite up. You should also see the ich start to clear up in just a couple of days and its not long before the fish looks ich-free, even though this is technically not the case.

I am not 100% sure of my facts here but copper (at least when it is overdosed) can affect key vital organs of the fish such as the kidneys.

I would agree. I also prefer Hyposalinity over poisoning my fish with copper.

Plus when the fish look clean in hyposalinity they likely are clean as no new infection can occurn unless you got a hyposaline ich strain (very unlikely and you will know right away because the fish will not clear up).
You only go for a longer period to make sure all feeding stage parasites have left the fish.

Though if you are in a hurry and want to be done faster I would recommend TTM which only takes you two weeks instead of the 5 to 7 (including ramping the salinity down and up a gain) with hyposalinity.

Had a Tomini Bristletooth Tang come in with Ich and was treated, as are all our new fish livestock, with hyposalinity! It, along with a Flame Hawkfish, and a Black Sailfin Blenny (Atrosalarius sp.) went into the 20g long QT! The salinity was kept a 1.011 for 30 days, then we spent another 7 days raising it to the level of the DT, 1.0255 !
There were no visible signs on the tang after only 4 days, and no re-appearance throughout QT or since while in the DT ! Neither of the other two QT tankmates has ever showed any signs of Ich! Copper is hard on their vital organs and smooth bodied (scaleless) fish like the Blenny will suffer from Copper treatment!
Just my experience for what its worth!

tank transfer really works and it's the quickest way of dealing with ich. I do TT and prazi at the same time and everything is done in 13 days. then I put the fish in a bigger qt and watch them until I feel they are ready to go into the display.

Definitely Tank Transfer Method if possible. A couple heaters, bubblers, and 5 gallon buckets will get it done.
