New salt water cloudy

I mixed up a Bach of new salt water
I have a large air pump-stone and a mag 700 running for 2 days
And water is real cloudy and the pump cord has turned white

It's probably just precipitate.

Did you mix the saltwater too strong? When I first started in SW I was mixing 40 gallons, had about 20 gallons done and decided to add enough salt to make the 40. That caused precipitate. I couldn't figure out what I did wrong to get white cloudy water, sure enough, I brewed it way to strong.

I mixed it at 1.20 light I have since added more salt to 1.25
Still kind of cloudy
Alk 8.0
Cal 420

How can I get rid it it looks like precipitate white on pump pump cord I need to due a water change and don't want to use it the way it is
Forgot to mention you water is super hot its outside

Was the salt lumpy to begin with?Did you add the salt to fast?Did you use tap water?

Salt was fine

I put 1 cup at a time in let it mix I came out 1.20 over night added more salt to
1.25

Was it cloudy right away? How long after you made the water did it become cloudy?

Its 1.025 NOT 1.25.. big difference..

Some brands of salt are just "cloudy" for a few hours to a few days too..

You think I use it
I am afraid it will cloud the display tank
I want to change out 30 gallons in a 150

well.. is it a new salt brand? Has it clouded before?
How cloudy is cloudy?
On well water?
If you shake it does it sound "carbonated" like coke bubbling?

If something seems different and it shouldn't then don't risk it..


Its cloudy.. It will carry that over to whatever you put it into.. but there is 120+ other gallons to dilute it..
