New sand

Starting another tank. Been battling phosphates in other 2 tanks. Whats the point of buying crushed coral ( in a few sizes) if thats introducing phosphates right off the bat. We spend money on ROH & DI filters to get rid of PO4 and then as soon as it hits the sand. Boom..there it is.....rinsed or not. Really thinking about trying South Down sand, except it's not in my area.

what about no sand?

or aragonite sand, why are you only considering south down and crushed coral? aragonite is the sand of choice.

I do have aragonite sand. After rinsing with RO/DI water and adding more RO/DI water to bucket and let settle PO4 tested .4 . Water by it self is 0. I guess I don't have the right brand. This well know brand doesn't really say anything about phosphates in there charts.

You should also check your RO water for phosphates. Even with a 0 TDS reading you can still be getting so PO4 from your water.
