Hello everyone...I know this is asked quite a bit but everyones circumstances are different, for the most part.. I have a Sebae anemone I bought 3 days ago and on ONE side its tentacles appear to be bleaching?/Shrinking turning a whitish gray.
This is my first attempt with an anemone, although I have a three headed Torch coral that's doing great, always open nice color and takes food when given to it.
-To start I acclimated the nem but rinsing the plastic bag it came in and floated the bag in my tank while holding the bag with clips on the tank edge to keep the water from flowing in. I then add 2 ounces at a time of my tank water to the bag then withdrawing 2 ounces every five minutes for an hour.
-I then put on disposable plastic gloves (not nitrile) remove the nem and placed it. There was no air contact to the nem with the method I use.
- Since placing the nem, it has moved to where you see in the picture (about 6 inches) and it appears to have buried its foot. It's mouth is closed and has not retracted at anytime that I've seen. Its just that a patch of tentacles appear to be bleaching? (Lower tight side)
- My water chemistry is good. I use API test kits and according to the results, I have 0 nitrate/ite, phosphate, ammonia, calcium is at 440ppm, KH is at 196.9.
- I use a 4 bulb aquatic life light T5HO fixture. 2, 10K and 2, 420 actinic 10 hours a day (216 watts).
- I skim aggressively as I have a HOB skimmer (CPR bak pak) as well as another in my sump. I run 30 grams rowaphos indefinately in one of my HOB filters and do 10 gallon changes weekly.
- I did not dip.
-78 degrees, at 1.025
Its a lot of info, but trying to provide as much info as possible. Opinions?
