Hey guys so i recently just shutdown a 75 gallon tank, but i wanna get started on a new one. My last tank i skipped out on a lot of the expensive stuff and it bit me back later so this time i want to get something good. Im looking to get a AIO tank at least 40 gallons, Quality lighting, protein skimmer and test kits. My budget is around 1.5k-2k. It would be greatly apprecited if i get your opinions thank you

My opinion.... Proper knowledge is far better than expensive stuff :)
Your tank didn't fail because you didn't dump a bunch of money into it..

Just wanted to set you straight from the start so you don't dump money into it only to fail again..

Oh no it didnt fail, i had to sell it because i moved. But the parts leaked a lot of times that i ended up replacing them

While I agree that the expensive stuff is not required, some of it really helps reduce maintenance time.

Baisically you can have an outstanding tank with just tank, love rock, light, heat, and water. But in this case, water changes must be regular.

To this, I would consider a sump and skimmer.

2k, even for a 40 gallon will not go very far if you are looking for high end equipment. Try to find good used equipment and get decent lower cost where possible. Spend more where it makes sense, i.e. skimmer and lights.

I agree that automating as much as possible will make things easier and is not all that expensive for things like lighting and ATO. The best advise I can give though would be...........

Get your own QUALITY RO/DI system from the start. It will save you a TON of headaches and problems down the road, and don't rush anything!

Money will not replace good sound practices. That being said, I thought my current tank through, went with what I wanted. This tank vs. my 65 gal. Frankenstein tank, no competition. I will soon be adding dosing, but I will still test twice week...just me...just how I am...
