Oooooh...I love shallow reefs. Have you thought about one Gyre? Don't have much else to add but waiting for pics!

I have been looking at the gyre. I don't know a lot about them or how well they would work on a shallow reef. I guess rock work would play a big roll but they're definitely interesting. Tank has another 5-6 weeks until I can pick up at Miracles. I'll be taking pictures along the way and will do a build thread once we start putting everything together.

I've had a very similar tank in the past and loved it. I would suggest 1 MP10 and the Gyre 130. You will get the best of both worlds with those pumps. As far as the skimmer goes have you considered the Aquamaxx CO1? I have one for my 45 gallon frag tank with sump, and love it. It skims like a monster and is truly set and forget. The radion controlled by the Apex is a great idea too. I run 3 on a 260 and love them. Eco tech put out a study with suggested intensities which I use with good results this far. Your sump is a fine choice, but give the Building an Obsession cube sump a look. I may order one before long as well. I like the way it is set up with the refugium/frag area in the very front. The Vectra pump is another fine choice, and I am in the market for one myself. You may consider the larger one if you have the extra $100 to spare. The flow is adjustable which is perfect for future upgrades in take size. It would also be handy if you wanted to tie a size able refugium and/ large frag tank to the system as well. Good luck, and keep us posted on the progress of this tank.

Awesome, thanks for the advice and we'll check out that sump and skimmer. I heard they may be releasing a 4th gen radion in September, or at least announcing it, so I may try to hold off as long as I can for lighting
