About 3-4 months ago corbin's exodic pets opened up in marengo, has anyone been there yet? They seem like they have a decent amount of fish and corals. He still needs to figure out some things from what he said, but seems like a good shop. Anyone else have an opion of this place?

thats really weird, i was just talking to a guy at my work and its his buddy that opened up that pet shop. he said they have a lot of animals, birds, cats, dogs and fish. its a bit of a drive for me though...

I work in Marengo and have been to the shop a couple of months after it opened. They have a wide variety of all animals in the shop. It is rather large stop. They had a great selection of repitles and other animals.

As for fish the drygoods were priced a little high like most stores. They have a very nice fish room. A lot of fresh and saltwater fish. The fish looked healthy and the prices were reasonable. They had corals and inverts but I did not see anything that was real interesting to me at least. I am sure they have more by now and am planning on stopping back in today or early next week.

Not a bad place to check out if you have some time to burn.

Where exactly is it located? I'm just familiar with the I-90 and Rte. 20 area. Looks like they have Koi, so that's why I'm asking.

I did not see that many Koi when I was there. They are located on the East side of Marengo just off of 20. Not sure what the street name is you need to turn onto but it is to the north and you can see the sign on the building from 20.

In Marengo on Route 176 there is a farm that has a bunch of Koi for Sale. I can not remember the name but you can see a large area covered with a canopy with a bunch of the 100 - 500 gallon rubbermaid ag tubs and filtration. I believe they grow up Koi there.

I can check them out and let you know. I have been looking for some more Koi myself.

Thanks, I have been looking for a new one to add to my pond! There's also a Koi show coming up in Darien on the 24th that should have some for sale.

Can't mapquest or randmcnally store address.

Sure, that would work, but I guess I was feeling lazy and did not see directions nor a map on their website. Mapquest is Plan B

A few people have told me the shop is very very decent and worth checking out. I've heard the salt water selection is rather large. I plan to check it out next week when I'm doing visits in Marengo.

On the way back from Rockford we found the shop, overall a very cool shop...

As you walk in 2 huge turtles (not sure why somebody would want these as pets) ... lots of other unusual pets, even some monkeys.

As far as the fish section, I'd give it a 5/10 score.... all the tanks look like they are suffering from new tank syndrome, and things do not look very healthy.

Once the tanks mature I think the fish section has potential.

According to their web site, they are marmosets. They say that many of their exotics are not for sale, as they are store pets.

Some guy at the "formerly named" Lee Watson's Reptile Swap last weekend had one of them (kinkajou). Pretty costly $2000+

You need to have a USDA license to keep them.
