New Skimmer

Hey guys and girls quick question for you. I'm currently running a 90 gallon reef ready that for reasons I won't get into can not have a sump (let's just say water on the floor = the doghouse with the fiance).

I'm looking at adding a new HOB skimmer - I'm running 2 remora now. Any thoughts on the Deltec 600 or the new octopus? I have limited space, about 4 inches, behind the tank as I was not planning on have a HOB.

I currently have a scopas, 2 clowns, target mandarin and various LPS and softies but am looking to get into SPS.

Thanks,
Dave

just a quick FYI: the potential for water being spilled on the floor is greater with "hang on devices" than if you were to have a sump.

I second what Gary said!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you absoletely have to go with a HOB skimmer, I'd go Octopus, can't beat their price point. ARC just got in Octopus.....might be worth a visit and take your tape measure to see if any of them will fit....that might be a bigger deciding factor for you.

+1. If you must go HOB, look into the 2010 Octopus line offered locally. If you can stand the Ferrari Red acrylic, the skimmers are made like no other HOB I've seen.

HOB are aweful..I used them for a wile and still use one on my Quarantine tank,I have one of the better ones a Octopus BH-2000 and I still get tons of salt everywhere from splash..

sump is much better and cleaner way to go..

I have seen the Deltec 300 in action and it was not bad, just a little pricey. There was no salt creep from splash or spray, and was not that loud, but then again it was not the 600.
