New SPS Frag Theory

This has been bothering my for a few days now. I currently have a 180 gallon mixed reef with large colonies of ORA Stuber, Blue Mystic, multiple Blue Digitata, and other Montipora corals. All my colonies are doing great. I introduced 4 new acropora frags from the LFS. Each frag was brown, but had some polyp extension. I put the corals in my tank and they continued to have PE and seemed to be ok. After two days they ALL started bleaching or RTN from the base. Here's my theory.......Is it possible that coming from a large overstocked, dimmly lit LED tank, into my 400W MH tank with low nutrients may have caused them to get "Shocked"? Its been about a week and the bases are still white, but they are getting great color already. Thoughts on the nutrient idea?

Thanks

Do you acclimate new additions to your lights? For example, place all new additions on the sand bed for two weeks before moving up into rock structure.

I have the same thing happen to me, put them low and tank and feed your fish, I would guess the LFS water was no where near your quality and LED's are not MH's intensity in my eyes.. They should recover nicely! Good luck.

A big alk difference between the tanks might also cause problems. If they rtn'd from the base I wouldnt think lighting was the problem.

These are all good points. I put them middle of the tank. I'd think lighting would cause bleaching from the tips? Alk swing would make prefect sense.
