When you purchase an SPS that is positioned close to the surface under MH lights from a LFS, do you try to reproduce the corals position in your tank or start it from the bottom and move it up gradually?
Usually they say one week acclimate at bottom and 2nd week, move it intermediate and etc,it will be safer for corals since it is also adapting to a new tank's parameters.
I usually do just in case. The LFS may not have as new bulbs as you or different reflectors. Sometimes the coral is not getting light from the same angle it was, especially if it was a fresh cut frag.
