New SRO HOB Models

Any more info on these models. Looks like there are actually three models coming out now. I see premium aquatics website has the sro-lx1000 and 2000 listed. Another sponor's website also has what looks like a sro-xp1000hob Cone as well?

Hi Jason,

I believe the cone is still a ways out. I should be getting confirmation on this within the next couple of days.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the reply. Would be interesting to find out the air flow each of these will be able to create and tank ratings.

Another thing that would be nice to know is to verify what picture actually goes with which model. I've seen the two different pictures being labeled differently at different places. I've been seeing the Lx-2000 as having the smaller neck at several places now and I really hope that isn't the case. I really don't think the neck would be big enough for the hy2000 bubleblaster that it's supposed to be coming with. I'd imagine if it did have that smaller neck it would have the same issue as the 800 does but the lx-2000 with the new two chamber design couldn't be modified like the 800 does because the bubbles would just flow right out into the tank.

Got an email back from CoralVue confirming what picture/setup goes with what model of HOB. They didn't give me the dimensions of the cone however, that would be nice to know.

They also sent me a full set of pictures of each model:

I'm still up in the air between the lx-2000s and the xp-1000s hob cone.

They look nice. Though they look like an overflow waiting to happen, especially the cone. Waiting to hear more about them...

Looks like they got the collection cup neck size right this time on the lx models. The bh800s just didn't have the neck opening needed to handle the sicce pump. The SWC Extreme HOB got it right the first time. The lx-2000 has a much bigger neck opening now and a more powerful pump. Looks very promising. Even the lx-1000s looks to have a slightly bigger neck opening then the bh800s did.

The cone is very interesting and really don't think it will have a problem with overflow. I don't know the actual measurements but it looks like a bigger diameter then the ATB multi-use cone and gets about 100lph more air with the hy1000 bubble blaster pump. Only thing that concerns me about the xp-1000s is the neck looks a little long. So it will be interesting to see how the body/neck/pump combination will match up. I like the gate valve on it for easy adjustability of the water level in the cone.

The necks do seem to be well sized. I was thinking more along the likes that a skimmer will go crazy at some point... something in the air, something on your hands, 2 part epoxy, something dies, spawn event. The first 2 don't seem to have any relief. The cone does with the elbow at the top of the collection cup but where does it go? a tube could take it down to the tank I guess. The cone seems to have a drain at the bottom of the collection cup. Would be easy to mod the first 2 skimmers with an elbow at the top of the collection cup directing back to the return side. Like the SWC or Deltec do. Maybe the final products will have these.

I am really interested in these skimmers, the prices look good. Good pumps. Just have to see one, looks like there maybe a bit more in the tank on the input/output then I would want. They are the most innovative looking HOBs I have seen in some time.

:lmao:

Yeah the colors definitely pop out. With my canopy you wouldn't see the majority of it except for maybe the cones collection cup up top but then it would look like an ATB.

I've seen several pictures of the square collection cups with drain fittings too so I'd hope the final production has them but would be easy to fit them with one. I'd run the line right into the in take area that is in the tank.

Found a report from another person on another forum so these may not be official specs but the lx-1000 is reported to have a 3" neck and the lx-2000 a 4" neck. Still no specs on the dimensions of the cone...

BTW, just got off the phone with a sales rep from PA and they expect some of these skimmers coming in on Wednesday and already have some orders for them! Seems like a common theme among all the distributors is that they have a limited supply coming in this week and already selling out. Also, looks like PA currently has the lowest prices on these skimmers as well with free shipping! Found 4 places having the lx-2000s listed at aournd $389 and PA has it listed at $339.99.

Got a call from PA just before I went to lunch and they got their shipment of these in. Which was really awesome customer services for them to pull to the side one of the boxes and open it up for me to get some information/confirmation on the skimmer!! Thank you PA for calling me and answering my questions like that!!

Confirmed 100% that the lx-2000s does have the pump on the outside and the neck opening is 4". Looks to need about 4-5" of clearance behind the tank. Also, doesn't appear to have a drain opening in the collection cup so it would be a really good idea to retro fit one in to reduce the chance of flooding from the collection cup overflowing.

Very quick on getting the shipment out and Free shipping to boot! I should have the lx-2000s here on Friday!!

Please post some feedback on the skimmer once you get it up and going!

I definitely will. I'll probably write up a review in my on going log on here and then link to it as I've promised some reviews in a couple other threads for it too now. Plus the last time I tried to embed a vid in the sponsor's forum it didn't allow it.

Thank you for the order!

Yep, you guys had the lowest price on these by $40 and have free shipping. Really can't beet that. Plus the support I got from the person I talk to there before I even purchased the skimmer was great. I'll definitely start ordering more stuff from you guys then I have in the past.

This is not the case anymore they have brought them up to the $389 everyone else is at.
