New stain on front doors of stand-should I be worried

Stupid question/(s):

I just took my doors off of my tank over the weekend and put Minwax stain on them. I got new handles in so I wanted to do both at once. Is there anything I need to worry about with the stain and the tank? It says let the stain dry for 8 hours (has been 24 I just got home from work), just curious if I need to seal the doors or anything? Will the humidity/temp under the tank do anything to the stain?

Otherwise I will slap them back on, dont need to see all that stuff down there!

If its just stain and is completely dry ,I say hang them. Now when floors get refinished, that's a whole different story and can be very dangerous to your tank. hth

A couple coats of a good quality polyurethane to seal them would be a good idea. My go-to finish is General exterior water based. No odor, you can apply it with disposable foam brushes so clean up is quick. Pick a finish - satin/semi/gloss.

Yeah I guess I was getting at since they are already off, why not seal them with a clearcoat. I mean if there is a possibility it could affect something down the road I dont want to take that chance. But at the same time it is stain..should be set in.

Well I better run out to the store so I can get this process moving.

Thanks guys!

I would definitely put a sealer on them or the saltwater will stain the wood. Polyurethane works very well, if you like a more traditional looking finish I use Deft Clear Wood Finish.
