new stock advice

Hi reef experts... here is my tank info:

55gal est. almost 2 years
protein skimmer and powerfilter
crushed coral bed
20lb live rock
Temp- 80F, Nitrites and ammonia 0, Nitrates 20-40

2 small red starfish
1 moderately huge coral banded shrimp
1 sea urchin
5 small hermit crabs

1 small yellow tang (yes, I am looking for a future home, I know it will get too big)
1 percula clown
1 green chromis
1 royal gramma

I have this tank in my classroom, and I would like to add some some more fish to the tank. I am looking for something peaceful and relatively hardy, since it is a classroom tank and the student help to care for it. Any expert ideas on what to get? I am also looking for some ideas on some inverts that might like to eat film algae, its not really bad, but it is definitely there.

Thanks fopr helping a teacher who is still kind of a 'newbie'!

I would look into getting another clownfish. Do you have a male or female?

You know, I have no idea.. a student brought the little guy to me as a gift. That's also how I ended up with a yellow tang in a 55gal. Luckily, he is pretty small. Needless to say, we have a rule about bringin in random fish to school now!:mixed:

Sounds like he may still be a male. How long have you had him for?

I got him in March 2007, he (maybe) is very cute... if I get another do you recommend a smaller one that would most likely be another male? My fish guy usually has them but they are pretty small.

Hum... Might even be a female by now. Anyways... if you buy a small one they should pair up. No guarantee since it always doesn't work.

Get some snails for cleaning, IMO get a male and female Lyretail Anthius, colorfull and only get about 3 inches, I have 2 females and 2 male. Or a few Cardinals, I have 3 in my tank.

Don't the anthius need a few small meals on a regular basis? Perhaps hard in a classroom versus a tank at home.

You could add a couple more green chromis and a sixline wrasse, might add a little more movement to the tank and they're pretty hardy fish.

I know they say to Feed Anthia's numerous a day mine get fed once, after work, or twice if too many Martinis after work, Blue Star Leopard Wrasse is nice too.

Ijn a classroom the kids want to feed alday, mine get 1 or maybe 2 all in the pm, live off the LR.
