I was just visiting my parents in Florida and I had to check out Chris Jessen's new store in Sarasota. It was amazing just as I had expected. He owned a store for 10 yrs near my house in CT and the CT,NY and Boston Reefers really miss it! He sold it and it just is not the same. Anyhow, the dude really knows his stuff when it comes to Reef Design and Maintenance. His rep up here was outstanding. He had hundreds of accounts and a sick store alwaysd stocked with quality Corals and Fish. A bunch of his customers were TOTM. New store is just as cool on a smaller scale. Well to be honest I have lived up north and in Europe and this shop compares more to a European shop, and is nicer than most Ive been to in New England.

Its not about the, D... Yankees its about the D.... Rich Yankees and the LFS that rip them off and think we should pay them homage.
This guy called me (from a reference from a reputable LFS) about fixing his system. He had a 6000 sf house built with a 225 gal in wall reef, the thing had dual wet dry filters w/ dual UVs, a chiller under the eves at 14 feet above the tank and a Amp master driving the whole system to include the skimmer, I figured the Amp master could only push about 600gph to the chiller alone at that head and he paid 18k for the setup. I hadn't seen a system like that since the 80s, the thing had Bio balls and floss in the over flows for Pete's sake. wake up America
I felt so bad telling him he was taken and he needed to drop a few grand more to get a reel reef tank.

Chris and Laura were well known gurus here in Ct.
They basically revolutionised the aquarium hobby in the NY area, by providing exceptional advice, knowledge, and fish and coral that none of us hobbyists had ever seen before. The first mystery wrasse, the one and only solid blue Potter's angel, and acros the likes of which no one had ever seen before.
You guys are insanely lucky that he's set up a store down there, you have no idea. It will blow you away.

You Floridians kill me.All I was saying is the majority of stores in florida "of which I have owned a house in for 20 years" suprisingly are not as serious about the hobby as we are up north.You guys are lucky to have someone like chris who has devoted as much of his time and effort into this hobby as he has.He is a great guy with a ton of knowledge and we will miss him up north.
You yankees kill me. All I was saying is that I've lived up north on an assignment with the Air Force and Ford Motor Company, as well as 6 other states, and everywhere there are good stores and marginal stores. The big difference is that "damn yankees" talk about the north like it's heaven. Everything is better up there.

It is a very nice shop. give me a shout when you come down.
These guys are just trying to give their friend a boost, which isn't working in the upward direction and they have even P.....off the local guys on the Sarasota thread, I'm sure that Chris really doesn't want nor deserve this kind of publisity.
Take a look and you will see that this is a very nice shop that can stand up to the closest scrutiny and does not need the bolstering of a few GDTs. (Thats G..D...Tourists) and D...Yankies.
