what would be an ok to good size sump for a 220gal fowlr/future reef tank?

i have a 55 gal show tank i could use and a custom wet dry that is 2ft x 2ft x 2ft that came with the usetank. trying to add as much live rock to the sump so i can have a more open disp tank.

will these work or do i "need" to go bigger? other thuaghts are the use both but if its not needed then i can use the space under the tank for other things.

normally 20-30% of DT is enough, but sometimes it depends on how high the water will be over the overflow anyway reefcentral has a calc

55 gallon would make a good sump. I hate this tank footprint for display but for a sump you can allow lots of height for extra water volume in the case of pump failure or a power outage. Use the one you have or get a new one at the next Petco $1/gallon sale.

what about using both the tank and the sump together? what would you guys do with my equipment?
