New Tank.. 240 or 300 Gallons?

I'm looking to get a bigger tank. I have 2 options that I cant decide between.. I can either get a 240 gallon 96x24x24 or a 300 gallon 96x24x30 tall. I cant have a depth of 30 inches or else the tank will interfere with my theater seating so to have a 300 gallon it will have to be 30 tall. I'm just looking for some insight on what would be a better choice. I haven't really decided on what kind of corals I want to keep on this build, but I'm thinking SPS dominant.. But still open on that decision. Looking for advice please!!

Thanks,
-Joey

what a pain 30 inches will be. constantly worrying about deodorant getting into tank, dealing with added cost of light etc. My vote is 24, which is actually 2 inches deeper than what i prefer.

30 inches tall would be a lot of work especially since I'm only 5'8" on a good day!

I would go 800 gallons. Lol.

I would in a heartbeat if the projection screen wasn't there! Is my kessil fuge light gonna be available by the time I get my new tank?? :spin2:

If it's a custom build then I go 96x24x28 24" tall is pretty shallow by the time u stack a few rocks it's to the top already no place for stag horn to grow plus your fish don't have enough room to swim I have a 96x36x24 and if I can do it again I will change the height to 28

I actually didn't even thing about that.. Advanced aqua tanks is going to build the tank.. I didn't even think about asking about a custom height.. I'm sure it will up the cost a bit but I'll inquire!

i know you mentioned that you can't have 30" front to back, but is 24" max? can you 26" or even 28"?
as far as height goes, I'd probably go 26". 30" would be tough but would look awesome.

Not without going smaller on my projection screen.. its 120" screen and if the tank is a deeper depth, it will interfere with seating and viewing on the left side. Trust me, I've even thought about giving up the projection screen and going with a much bigger tank.. but 24 inch depth is a compromise to have a bigger tank, but keep the theater seating and screen.

26" tall is the height of my old (many moons ago) 325g tank. 26" on my old tank worked out great because I had a steel rim so essentially it was a rimless tank.

So I had my current tank custom made to 26" tall. I wasn't thinking things through and when I had to have a 6" euro-brace for strength, I said 'OK'. The 6" euro-brace means that to get to front and side panel corners to clean out coralline algae, I have to practically climb into the tank.

In hindsight, I would either go down to 24" and the euro-brace or I would have had the tank built with a powder coated rim.

My two cents.

I love my 30” tall 300, only drawback it can be a bit hard to repack some thing on the bottom of the tank.
