new tank and tang suggestions

ok getting ready to start my new tank build but looking for ideas of tangs to put in. I am planning on putting 2 in this tank. My lst tank had 4 and was a 125 gallon 60 long by 20 wide. all were healthy and triving with no sign of real aggression. The new tank will be 48 long by 30 wide it will be approx 137 gallons with a minimalistic rock work with a few caves and nooks for the fish. I am looking at possibly a powder blue ( had on before and did well) a yellow or possibly a blonde naso. Or I was thinking of going with 2 yellows.

Think in terms of lateral swimming space and not necessarily volume. Skip th e naso in a 4 foot tank. As far as the YT's my understanding is that you want to keep them in odd numbers so having a pair may not work. A kole tang is a lovely fish and a good grazer. The Tomini Tang is also very pretty and stays on the smaller size.

not a big fan of the Tomini Tang. I will keep that in mind about the yellows but I think the tank might be to small for 3 yellows.

Take a look at the sticky in this section called "Tank sizes for Tangs" by bertoni. It should give you an idea of possible combinations. Note that the Powder Blue is among one of the more agressive tangs along with the Sohal and Purple Tang. I am currently having problems making my Purple and Yellow tang to get along. I wish I saw that list before I purchase mine, I would have think about it twice before adding the Purple or at least make it the last addition.

When looking at the sticky, you have to look at length not the volume because the footprint gives you swimming room. I would only do two tangs in your tank and do a mimic and a yellow tang. The PBT is out, you need a 6 foot tank for them which you are not providing.

thats a nice chart thanks for posting about the thread. Got alot to think about. I think if i do go powder blue the fish will have to be the only tang in the tank
