New Tank Build

I ordered a custom tank from Custom Reef Creations and will be receiving it this week. I promised that I would start a new build thread for it so here it goes. It will be a big step up for me. My previous tank was a 29g Biocube that crashed on me when I moved from the panhandle to OKC. My new tank will be a 36x36x26 corner tank that will go in the new house I just bought. It has a single overflow with two drain lines and one return that will be t'd to two outlets. It will have a custom sump. I will be building my own stand for it and plan on making it look like it is built into the room. No hood probably with just a mesh top to keep fish from jumping. I plan on running AI led lights on it but haven't decided on whether to go with the new vega color lights or just the old super blue sol's. It will be a mixed reef tank. The volume on it should be about 140 gallons plus whatever the sump works out to. I will run a skimmer and chaeto in the sump with a carbon and gfo reactor. That's all I have for now and will post pics as soon as the tank comes in. I will keep this thread updated regularly as I make progress on it. Hopefully I can have it up and running by the end of the year.

i haven't really decided yet. i would like it pretty tall but that will make it hard to clean. i'm open to suggestions if you have any. if you've seen the display tank at custom reef creations i would like it that tall. can't remember the dimension on it though. that would require me to use a step stool to do maintenance.

You can come check out my 40" Tall stand, if you like it I'll make you a deal on it. I am going to use a 36" tall steel stand instead.

I'll have to see if I can get by to take a look at it. Not sure if 40" is going to be tall enough or not. When would you be available in the afternoons for me to take a look.

Finally got some work done on the new tank.
First is the frame for the stand. I will hopefully be skinning it in the next week or so.

Next is the screen top I made to keep fish from jumping.

I am going to try to get by CRC to order sump, skimmer, lights and power heads.

The stand looks sturdy! skinning it will only make it stronger.

you might want to think twice about putting your tank ontop of carpet..

No matter how careful you are it is easy to get water everywhere! and then it starts to stink.....

I plan on buying one of those office mats that allow chairs to roll around easier to put under the tank. Just need to find one that looks good in the living room.

Thats a good idea! That idea would of saved me a tank move a few years back.
I remember coming home one night and trying to figure out what stinks lol. My wife said its that fish tank. I tried to blame it on the front loading washing machine and the garbage disposal.. After a week of my denial she was right it was the tank or rather the carpet.

Got to CRC finally and ordered 2 AI Vega Colors with controller, 2 Tunze 6065 powerheads, a heater, a SRO 2000 skimmer, and a Trigger Systems Crystal Elite 30 Sump. That should be all the equipment I need except for plumbing. I already had an Eco 1267 return pump I will use and a BRS dual chamber reactor. Now I need to start on planning the aquascape.

Well I finally had some time to get a little work done on this tank. I got the back two sides painted black and got my 4 AI Vega colors mounted and programmed. Now I need to organize the wiring and get the plumbing done. Unfortunately I ordered the wrong drain bulk heads and will have to wait till I can order some more unless Bill has some schedule 40 ones at his shop. Here are some pics.

Do I need to paint or stain the inside of the tank? I'm feeling pretty lazy so I don't want to but if I need to I should do it now before wiring and plumbing is done.
