So last night i aquired a Red Sea MAX 250 with no stand and no hood actually nothing but the tank lol but its brand new and has never been used...love how it has a built in overflow and compartments to hide all wires

I plan and building a custom stand for it with a super black gloss, which will take sometime to do since i want it done right...

As far as lights I will be upgrading my ai sol blues to the ai hydra 52s which should give me enough spread for this tank...

This will be my first tank with a sump so i do need recommendations and advice on how to build a sump and which skimmer to use...

Also need advice on flow...i do like the jaebo powerheads alot, just dont know which ones i would need and how many...

This tank will be a zoa/lps dominant tank that i am very excited about...

Pics will come when i figure out how to get them on here, it says upload error when i try from my phone...

Thanks in advance and inhope to get some pics up really soon

Adam, isn't this an all in one? Also it did come with a hood right? Your not using the hood? Or is there enough room to mount a hydra 52? Can't wait to see your progress!

Its just the tank with nothing but the overflow box, no stand hood or accessories...i am going to mount the hydra to the back of the tank, no more hanging leds from the ceiling lol

My saltwater experience started with a RSM250. Great tank! I really regret selling it.

If you are so inclined and want a sump I would suggest lifereef. Jeff makes an overflow and a sump designed for the stock cabinet. http://www.lifereef.com/nano.html it is the third item down. The stock cabinet is really nice, I wouldn't discount it before going custom. Also the stock hood is nice as well. It is really easy to gut the stock hood and fit the LED light of your choice inside!

I know this isn't what you suggested doing in your original post, but it is food for thought. And I get to live vicariously through you!

Just a quick reminder since you are just starting to set this up, think about earthquakes and safely securing the stand to the wall or whatever else you think up. I never thought about it until the one we had this past year, and after seeing my 80 rock back and forth like it did now it's a prime concern.

ThreeMoneyJ thanks for all the info on the sump...the stock stand is nice but i really would like something i built incorporated into my tanks, kind of like both my passions colliding lol...and ive always been a no hood guy

Frost0fractal thanknyounfor the heads up, definetly will take that into consideration
