new tank finally ready for water testing

:bum: We've been working on this for over a year now and we are water testing it right after i post this :eek2:

(we'll be in Newton on the Sat. after Thanksgiving and we still have 5-8" gorg frags if anybody in the des moines area is interested)

damn water, being able to find a way out, not much though, just a dribble, in the back of the sump so now i have to move a bunch of **** back out of the way to pull the sump out blech

i might paint the back, i havent decided yet, i fixed the leak in the sump but i want to get a rubber mat to lay under the tank before filling it up, there is a tiny gap between the tank and the antique stand in a few places

does anybody know what kind of paint would work best?

Any kind will work. Any kind will also chip/scratch if you're not careful to take care of it. I used black krylon fusion. The roommate's got a baby blue latex on hers. I'd use sprays for plastics, seems easiest to me (made perfect sense for me, really, as I sprayed the plastic tank frame as well)

well, its water tight now, just filled, ran, and drained it, just need to get the skimmer back in the sump and then saltwater

well the new tank is full of saltwater and everything from our holding tank is in the new tank, i only have the sump pump running right now; closed loop, skimmer, calc reactor are all leakless but the corals are used to no filteration and a single powerhead in the holding tank

i guess i never explained the main circulation
its a closed loop with an iwaki 55 running into a 4-way with each outlet split into 2, exiting on either side of the tank.
water is continuously flowing from 4 jets in the tank at all times (2 from the sump return and 2 coming from 1 outlet of the 4-way)

my mrc skimmer is producing a lot of bubbles in the sump, is there a way to keep it from doing that without attatching a verticle outlet and sponge for the water to run over?

From what I gathered this is a very new setup, that being the case the water will have less bubbles as it matures.

That will be after the tank has cycled.

ok, i figured i just needed to let the skimmer run for a few days, all the rock and corals have been in previous tanks of ours so the "bacteria cycle" part is def. taken care if that is what you meant though, the tank is in the bedroom so i turned the skimmer off at night, still lots of bubbles in the morning
the skimmer is either running wet or not collecting at all so i obviously need to learn how to use this beckett skimmer
