new tank / flag fin angel question

My parents are leting me upgrade from anywhere to a 150-180!!!! This is a while away because I still have to sell my three tanks and figure out a bunch of stuff!!! Also I'm getting the tank for the whole set up and used.

Anyway I'm not sure where this topic should go but I think it should go here.

I have a flag fin angel in my 75. But every time I put a new fish in there I feel like he harrases them and then they end up dying!! I understand why my cbb died because they are docile ,but I had two b&w clownfish and once I put them in after acclimation one jumped because the flag fin chased him out!!! Then my dad got her and put her back in........ Anyway they lasted for three days.

soooo my question is If I get a bigger tank and put my fish in there first (flag fin angel, yellow coris wrasse, lawn mower blenny, coral beauty angel, gold canary blenny ,and dimond goby) do you think that he will still bother the newcomers even in the big tank????

Aggression will be less in a larger tank but part of the problem now is that a 75 isnt big enough for a flagfin and he already has aggressive tendencies. I'm not sure fish ever loose this entirely and he may be aggressive in the larger tank as well. I probably dont need to tell you this but the ideal is to set up the new tank while your existing tank is still set up and running so you can add livestock gradually. Another potential problem with transfers is that some fish dont react well to being switched to a new tank that is not a seasoned system (angels are notorious for this). Do you have a friend with a seasoned tank that can hold the flagfin for you? If it were the last fish introduced into the system that would really help with aggression as well.

Thanks for your response. I know what you said is the best way to do it and I'll ask around to see if someone can hold my fish for awhile. My problem is that I need to put the bigger tank where my 75 is because its the only place in the house where it can go. I also need to sell my tanks to get the money for the bigger tank. I'm hoping that we are going to figure this all out. thanks a bunch again!!

Good luck to you, if you need to sell all of your old tanks to get the new one sounds like you have no choice but to either get someone to hold your fish or to trade them in and get new ones. My only other advice is to get the absolute largest tank that space and money will allow, I got a 180 standard and always wish I would have gone bigger. Sounds like you have really cool parents for letting you do the big tank, back in the day my dad thought a 55 was a big tank.
