New tank inhabitants introduction order?

Hello, so I finalized my tank roster. 36g bow, plan on adding corals later on but want the tank to be established and water parameters on point. The question I had was in what order do I introduce them to the tank. Currently I have a pair of oc clowns. I'd like to add ...(and please let me know if I'm overstocked) 1 yellow wrasse, 1 royal gramma, 1 sleeper goby, 1 flame hawk, and maybe 3 green chromis. I was thinking next add in should be the chromis trio, then goby, wrasse, royal and finally the hawk. Any help is appreciated. And if I'm overstocked by how much and who should I remove. Ty

IMO, you’re pretty much picking peaceful fish so I don’t think order is a concern at all.

I do think for a 36, you’re pushing the limit for fish stocking. But, I tend to be very conservative about fish stocking levels as I’m more interested in corals and inverts. My current tank (40 breeder) only has a clown, Pseudochromis, damsel and a six line wrasse. It did have one more clown but I lost her a while back.

Yea I figured , doing the 1in adult fish per gallon rule was my goal there. Another quick question, can you recommend a non expensive light I can buy for a beginner coral tank, sticking to easy to keep softies.

I'm pretty old school with a lot of reef keeping technology. I'm still using metal halide for my tank and will continue to do so until ballasts/bulbs are no longer available.

That said, there's a lot of relatively inexpensive LEDs on the market these days. A lot will depend on the functionality you want. Some will be pretty much on/off functionality (like the Viparspectra and Phlizon) others will allow you to change the color temperature, simulate sunrise/sunset, etc.

Here are some that I've heard pretty good things about.

Nicrew
PopBloom
Viparspectra
Phlizon
Lominie
SmatFarm

Since I haven't used any myself, I won't give a specific recommendation but, @Reefing102 seems to have a good handle on a few of these. I'm sure he'll chime in here shortly.

Awesome thanks , yea I don't even know what strength light I would even need either, and I def would like something with day night timer app controlled lol

I’m at work currently and can’t really give a detailed response. I’ll check back in after work

To cover a couple basics, what’s your budget?
Do you want a sunrise/sunset feature or just a timer?
Def want a sunrise sunset feature cause I can't be home to set the lights on or off and want a steady everyday thing. Um budget isn't really am issue I'd like to just get as cheap as possible for what I'm trying to do which is basic softies. Nothing hard to handle.

So LED really depends on budget and features. A 36 bow is 36” I believe, so my recommendations will be based on that length as well. Note that all recomendations should be able to handle all types of corals.

Many of the LED reef lights will be sufficient for what you want. All are tried and true

At the top price end : Radion, AI Hydra, etc. All are feature loaded, app controlled, etc. 2 Radion XR 15s or AI Hydra 32s should be good.

Mid Range Price: Reefi Uno 2.0 - Reefi Uno has a great reputation but the app and UI can be a bit dated looking. You’ll probably need two unless you can mount it high enough.

There’s also the quanta Helix light bars. I’d go with at least 3. No app or many other features, but great lights and on/off can be set with simple smart plug or outlet timer.

Low End Price: Viparspectra, SmatFarm, NiCrew, Noopsyche or similar would work. Last I was aware: Viparspectra, SmatFarm, and NiCrew don’t have apps. Vipar does not have sunset/sunrise. SmatFarm does have sunset/sunrise but in my opinion the spectrum is lacking. Noopsyche has a pretty good reputation but their customer service is lacking at best. They also have an app and many features of the expensive brands. Except for vipar, you’ll probably want 2 of either brand.

There’s also various knock offs off Aliexpress (like th A8SE, A8, and A8 Pro which are Radion XR30 knockoffs) which work great however the app is pretty clunky and have mixed reviews of keeping proper time.

Not off work but on lunch. Hope this gives some ideas.

Damn so I would need 2 lights for such a small tank ?

Many can’t cover the 36” spread. Most I believe have a 24x24” coverage except the Quanta Bars which are 35” long, the Reefi uno (which if hung high enough would have a large enough spread with the right reflectors, however you may have shadowing if there’s a center brace on the tank). and the Viparspectra which itself is I think around 20”long.

I forgot a big one that would work well…the ReefBreeders photon or meridian. Higher in price but only need one fixture, and can keep virtually anything in your dreams that’s photosynthetic.

Wow yea the meridian 24 looks like the light for me. Ty so much , 2 more questions and I'll leave you in peace lol. Do I need to mount this if I buy a full glass lid for my tank ? Can I lay it on top ? And two , if I can't do that I would need to hang it . Now this might sound dumb to ask but I've read that's it's happened and hasn't. If this light happens to become submerged in the water, is it water proof or are all my buddies going to be fried lol

To my knowledge it is not water proof. It should be able to handle some splashing but not submersion. With that said, if it decides to go for a swim, it would likely short out the light instead of frying your fishy friends.

As for mounting options, I’m not sure how the glass lid would fit with the side legs, however rumor has it, ReefBreeders is working on a back of tank mount option which would likely work well with a lid. Otherwise I would hang it. I would not lay it on the glass due to light spread issues and to allow proper airflow around the fixture so it doesn’t overheat.

I hope that answered your questions :)
