New tank ordered

NOT sure on this yet, but i'm contemplating selling off my entire setup.

$1800 gets you:
54 x 40 x 22, 3/4" acrylic, eurobrace peninsula style tank
48 x 20 x 18 two-chamber sump and a 30 gallon refugium
Vertex Illumina SR360 with auxiliary pads and V-Link
Aquamaxx Cones CO3
two MP40QDs; less than a year old
Full apex with TWO EB8s; BOB and leak detector module
DJ strip
150-200lbs of live rock
whatever corals and fish I have


For the tank alone, I paid 1650 and the sump was 350. Not going to part out at this time, just putting a feeler out there.

Well a new tank is only going to cure that for awhile! What you really need is to setup an automatic systems, like a weekly WC system and stuff like that.

If space wasn't a constraint at this time, I'd definitely get more automation in place. Alas, I'm only able to utilize whatever can fit under the sump. In the future, I'd like a fish room.

But the main issue is just the fact that I don't have the time to get my tank properly "dialed" in. I barely have enough time to feed the tank. Things like testing, water changes, setting up dosers feed eat into my schedule. I admit some jealousy with others who have their tanks stocked and thriving within months, whereas I only keep montis, acans and softies alive. A lot of it is husbandry, which is something I just flatout don't have either time or talent for.

CA reactor and a zeo reactor can do soon much for you. Do you have an Apex?

I literally know NOTHING about zeovit tanks. Are they supplements? Is it a type of carbon dosing?

The reactor grows bacteria so it keeps nutrient levels low. You do have to dose bacteria and a carbon source to feed the bacteria. You also have to shake the reactor to get rid of excess bacteria which then ends up as coral food. It's not that hard to do.

QDont do zeo if you are prone to neglect the tank. Not a good idea. Better to keep it simple if you are tempted to quit.

If you start a reef tank and you don't have time then u going on the wrong track. Your tank look awesome with Frontosa/African cichlid and that doesn't take time but still look beautiful.

Yeesh...forgot about this thread.

Tank is doing relatively OK...haven't added anything, lost some SPS frags the last couple months. Haven't done a WC in two months or so.

Why? Well, tank will be broken down sometime in February (Most likely the end). We will be moving out, and I don't know how long it'll be until I setup the tank. The fish I do have, as well as the few corals I have will be held in a frag tank or with some friends for the time being. I'm going to be revamping the entire setup until I setup the tank again (acid wash the rock, vinegar bathe everything, redo and/or replace the stand)
